Location

Boulder Creek Wind Farm is located approximately 40 km southwest of Rockhampton and 5 km west of Mount Morgan in central Queensland. The project’s location benefits from a vital wind resource, existing high voltage transmission lines and good site accessibility with few neighbouring properties. Wind measurements to date show winds from the east dominating the site with a strong night-time profile. This complements the day-time power output of existing solar farms to provide reliable round-the-clock-service power to the Queensland grid.

Proposed layout

This map shows the proposed turbine layout, as well as the location of existing transmission lines. The project is anticipated to comprise up to 60 wind turbines with associated access tracks for construction and operation, as well as underground and overhead powerlines connecting to a proposed on-site substation. The project will require a new substation which connects the wind turbines to the on-site 275,000-volt Stanwell to Calvale powerlines owned and operated by Powerlink. No off-site transmission lines are expected to be required.
